The Visit Lessinia Project

Visit Lessinia is a regional marketing project, an initiative created by the citizens of Lessinia to promote and showcase the region. The project is open to anyone to wants to make a contribution, whether they are individuals, entrepreneurs, associations or institutions.

Our story began in February 2018, when a group of people from a number of municipalities in the Lessinia area came together with one request, a need: to work together so that the area could be reinvigorated and relaunched, seeking to attract sustainable, quality tourism.

To do this, a project needed to be launched involving economic activities (shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, B&Bs, other accommodation facilities, artisans, companies, associations, etc.), private individuals and, of course, public administrations.

Initially, all the mayors of the Lessinia municipalities signed the memorandum of understanding, each committing themselves financially to support the start-up of the activities.

Subsequently, various information meetings were organised and the economic and tourist operators of Lessinia were asked to sign up, while more recently the Pro Loco, Associations, Polisportiva sports clubs, Groups and Guides have been involved.

The project has already been recognised by the Veneto region and counts on important partnerships with institutions such as GAL Baldo-Lessinia, ATV (Transport), Verona Airport, the Municipality of Verona, Confcommercio, Cassa Rurale della Vallagarina, the Pro Loco consortia and, we hope, the Italian Chamber of Commerce.

This year, the Visit Lessinia area has been included in the DMO (Destination Management Organisation) Verona – a body that plans and promotes tourism in the Verona area – so as to guarantee an integrated offer on the shared platform for promoting events and distributing tourist information.

The Lessinia Pro Loco Consortium has strongly adhered to the Destination Lessinia project, to promote together the territory and the numerous volunteers always work to enhance the beauty of Lessinia in the best possible way.

We also need people who speak the language of tourism, who are aware of its dynamics, and who can work and research every day in order to promote the area, improve its reputation, and welcome high-quality tourism that also brings development and benefits to the residents. This team of people compose the IAT Office of Lessinia, which plays the official and important function of information and tourist reception of our territory.

IAT LESSINIA – TOURIST INFORMATION AND WELCOME OFFICE

IAT -  Tourism and Information office - Lessinia is the office responsible for collecting and distributing tourist information and for welcoming visitors, as well as many of the region's organisational activities.

It organises meetings with operators and associations to keep them up-to-date on activities, updates regional information systems and portals (website, DMS, social media, newsletter), participates in specialist training sessions for IAT, sector fairs and workshops, and coordinates associations and operators in the area. It also takes care of external communication for the promotion of Lessinia at an international level, through staff specialised in both language and tourism marketing.

The tourist office is open every weekend and on public holidays from October to May, every day from June to September, and throughout the Christmas and Easter holidays.

In August 2018, IAT Lessinia entered the circuit of the Regional IATs and is, therefore, part of the network of tourist information offices of the Veneto region. A physical but also digital network that allows to stay informed about everything going on in our region and gives regional visibility to everything that happens in Lessinia. The region has also provided a valuable IT tool, DMS, which helps in the process of uploading and distributing all of Lessinia's tourist information and points of interest to the world wide web.

IAT Lessinia keeps the main office in Bosco Chiesanuova open and coordinates 35 info-points throughout the area.

The Info-Point Network

Given the size of the Lessinia region, and in order to offer the most complete service possible, a pilot project called the 'Lessinia info-point network' has been devised.

Since July 2019, 35 info-points have been active in the region, housed in as many facilities, including hotels, shops, libraries, points of sale, spread throughout the Lessinia area and also at its borders, in the municipalities of Verona and Colognola ai Colli.

All the info-points are in continuous and direct contact with IAT via an internet portal and are supplied with all the material on events and shows, maps, routes, itineraries, accommodation lists and more.
