Malga Lessinia is a historic landmark of present-day Lessinia with a vast history behind it. Originally built to host troops and financiers serving along the Austro-Hungarian border during World War I, it is located only a few hundred meters away. With the conclusion of the war, and following a period of disuse, around 1945 the structure was repurposed to serve as a malga for grazing. Today, cheese is processed here and products are sold. Since the 2000s, dining services have been added to this activity.
In the summer period (from June to the end of September), the dining activity boasts numerous seating spaces in the wide courtyard, served by an outdoor bar and a modest internal room furnished with care. Other rooms are instead used for processing and selling dairy products: Monte Veronese cheese, aged cheese, fresh and smoked ricotta. In the winter season (from early October to June), the malga transforms into a warm alpine refuge accessible only by foot. The menu, both in summer and winter, features typical products from the area and proposes malga gnocchi, daily soups, lasagnettes with hare sauce, polenta/salami/cheese, assorted cold cuts, care salà with vegetables, melted cheese over a bed of polenta. For enthusiasts, there is a wide choice of craft beers.
There are many activities to do near Malga Lessinia. It serves as a starting point for hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter, with snowcat-tracked walking paths, for example starting from Passo Fittanze (Erbezzo VR - 5 Km). In the immediate vicinity, you can visit the trenches of Malga Pidocchio, recently renovated, complete with informative signs and the possibility to request a guide for larger groups.
