A grand concert to celebrate the first quarter-century of the “Ecclesia Nova” Choral Group, retracing its growth over the years – both musically and as a group, as friends, and as a small family.
MATTEO VALBUSA, conductor
The Ecclesia Nova Choral Group, founded in 2000 in Bosco Chiesanuova, was born from an idea of M° Matteo Valbusa, taking the ancient name of the parish and bringing together eleven friends passionate about singing.
Over the years, the group expands and evolves, gathering singers from all over the Verona area and benefiting from numerous collaborations with other conductors, composers, and musicians. It thus develops a remarkable repertoire that includes sacred and secular choral compositions, from Renaissance to contemporary music, both a cappella and with instruments. The choir performs in numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, and successfully participates in choral competitions: in 2008, it won the Grand Prize at the Festival della Coralità Veneta, in 2010, the 2nd prize at the National Competition of Vittorio Veneto, in 2012, the 3rd prize at the National Competition Guido d’Arezzo, and in 2018, the 2nd prize at the National Competition of Fermo.
It boasts numerous world premieres of Italian composers (Valtinoni, Peretti, Zuccante, Lanaro, Susana) and includes in its repertoire compositions such as Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Fauré's Requiem, Ramirez's Missa Criolla, and various Masses by Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert.
The group also collaborates in the organization of musical events with public and private entities: since 2005, it has established itself as a Musical Association, the aim of which is to promote and spread musical culture. In particular, it annually organizes the International Choral Festival “Voce!”, an event that takes place in the summer period in Bosco Chiesanuova, spanning various fields of the choral world.
