Delia is Ivano's wife and mother of three children, defining her identity through these roles. It's the late 1940s, a divided Rome between the return to freedom and the painful scars of the recent war. Ivano is the undisputed head and controller of the family, committed to earning a living with difficulty and emphasizing his authority, sometimes with arrogance, other times with coercion.
