Sanctuary of our Lady of the Seven Sorrows

Bosco Chiesanuova
Via Piazza, 1 , IT 37021 Bosco Chiesanuova Lughezzano
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows is an important pilgrimage destination where the small town of Lughezzano, in the municipality of Bosco Chiesanuova, reveals its holy side.

Lughezzano is a small town located 600 m south of Bosco Chiesanuova in the province of Verona.

Its church is dedicated to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. It is also the sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows for the Lessinia area and the valley and has long been a destination for individual and group pilgrimages. Inside, you can admire the skill of the builders of yesteryear in the use of Lessinia stone. Having started out as a chapel subject to the main parish church of San Tommaso in Bosco Chiesanuova in 1616, it then became an autonomous parish church. Thanks to donations from benefactors and residents, it underwent significant expansion work, including the erection of the altar of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. The sanctuary is still very popular, especially during the main feast of Our Lady of Sorrows in Lughezzano, which is celebrated every year on the 5th Sunday of Lent, while 20 August is the day of the patron saint, Bernard of Clairvaux, and 15 September is the festival of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows.

The sanctuary of Lughezzano is open at all times.
